5 Berth 1997 Abbey 517 GTS Touring Caravan

For sale is our much loved 1997 Abbey 517 GTS. It’s a 5 berth caravan and we are only selling as we have had to get a bigger caravan as there is 6 of us and even though we can fit in it has become a little tight. The caravan is cris registered and we have owned since October 2012. There is no finance outstanding on the van and it has an aftermarket alarm fitted. The caravan has always been stored at our house on the drive when not in use. The length is approximately 18ft with hitch 21ft. It is a very sturdy caravan and was a top range model when first built. It is 5 berth with the front seats folding out to sleep 2 (although you can remove the draws and sleep 3) with the back seats folding out again to sleep 2 on a double sized bed with a bunk unfolding above to sleep another one (mattress pads included). Has a full oven and decent sized fridge. Opposite the kitchen is the bathroom with shower, sink and Thetford cassette toilet. There is plenty of storage both below the seating and above and we have fitted shelves into the wardrobe to give even more storage space. There is an outside light and outside electrical point for the all important beer fridge (not included but highly recommended) It has all of the original manuals. We have had the caravan professionally serviced twice during our ownership. It has an alko stabiliser. It also has an Enduro motor mover fitted, which is brilliant for manoeuvring (wish our new one had one fitted). Also comes with a 110 amp leisure battery, a full Dorema awning, electric hook up, gas bottle (with still some gas in), leg winder, steps, water pump, fresh water aqua roll and wastemaster. It comes with 2 sets of keys, but only one alarm fob. Onto the negatives, the fridge will not light off the gas and will only work off electric, we always go to sites with electric hook up so this hasn’t been an issue to us. The other negative arose from our most recent service. The front corner and opposite back corner has damp ingression. Our service guy said just to keep on top of it by keeping it dry (we have dry bags in the caravan constantly and put a dehumidifier in once a week) there is no physical signs of this damp on either the inside or outside, but I am not one to sell something without been completely open and honest. The service reports are available to view, as is the caravan. I have tried to list as much information as possible and be as honest as possible. Caravanning is fantastic and if you are thinking about doing it for the first time then this caravan is not too expensive for you to try and could easily sell on if it turns out its not the life for you. Any questions or if you want to view then please do not hesitate to contact me.
